Mamoru-kun is a doll in the shape of a police officer made to protect traffic safety in Miyako Island,Idol-like presence on Miyako IslandIt is. There are currently 19 of them, plus a girl, Maruko.

(1) Miyakojima Mamoru-kun

The first one we will introduce is the "first generation" Mamoru-kun.

The first Mamoru-kun was installed in the Miyakojima Police Station.

I was born in 1996 as a quintuplet between Miyakojima Police Station (father) and Miyakojima Area Traffic Safety Association (mother).

He is a member of the Miyakojima Area Safety Association and an employee of the Miyakojima Police Station Traffic Division, where he holds the rank of police sergeant. It can be accessed by crossing the road in front of AEON TOWN Miyako Minami Shopping Center and heading toward Route 243.

The office is located at an intersection with no traffic lights, so please drive carefully when visiting by car.

 

4) Susumu Miyakojima

Susumu-kun works in Karimata and can be met by going north on Route 230 from Taira toward Ikema Island.

They are easy to spot because they are on a straight road with good visibility!

5) Miyakojima Maruko-chan

Maruko-chan is Mamoru's only sister.

Standing guard with Miyakojima Mamoru-kun in front of the entrance of Miyakojima Police Station.

Actually, Mamoru-kun and Maruko-chan are considered proper citizens of Miyakojima with a special certificate of residence issued by Miyakojima City.

 

6) Miyakojima Ryozo-kun

Ryozo is on duty at the intersection of Route 78 in Higashi Nakasone toward the airport.

You can see him working along the left turn lane of the airport line from the direction of Taira.

Do not park and take pictures in this area as it is very busy near the airport.

 

7) Miyakojima toshio-kun

Toshio is standing guard at a busy five-way intersection in Higashi Nakasone.

It can be accessed by going north at the intersection of the third service station.

 

8) Miyakojima Kazuki-kun

Kazuki is standing guard near the main gate of Shimoji Elementary School.

It is not a busy intersection, but it is probably worked by many elementary and middle schools.

It can be accessed by turning on the 390 road from the city center to Maehama Beach, following the sign for Shimoji Elementary School for a short distance.

Miyakojima Izuru-kun

Izuru-kun is standing guard in front of Ueno Elementary School.

Since it is located near a daycare center and a junior high school, it probably watches over the safety of children and students on their way to and from school.

10) Masao Miyakojima-kun

Masao-kun works at the mid-break intersection of Nishisato, where there is no traffic light.

Nearby is Nakayumi Shoten, where you can enjoy delicious soba noodles.

Previously, we worked standing guard at the Higa entrance, but on May 20, 2015, there was a personnel change and our work location changed to the mid-break intersection.

If you continue straight south on Route 78 in the direction of Ueno, you will find him working at the Nakayasu intersection. You can check it on your way to Sigira Resort.

 

(11) Miyakojima Kiyoshi-kun

Kiyoshi-kun is standing guard at an intersection near the entrance to the German Village. There are few traffic lights in this area, so he watches over cars heading toward Taira from the German Village.

⑫Masakatsu Miyakojima

I am on duty at the intersection of Route 390 near Higashiheiannazaki, a scenic spot on Miyako Island, where the restaurant Kaiho is located.

⑬Miyakojima Tetsuya-kun

Tetsuya is standing guard just before the Kurema Bridge from Miyakojima Island.

You can meet him on the road from Hirara City to Kuruma Island on Route 250. Behind Tetsuya-kun is a field, making it a good place for photographs.

⑭Miyakojima Junki-kun

Today, Irabu Island is accessible by car via the Irabu Bridge, but Junki-kun has been on duty on Irabu Island since before the bridge was built.

The famous beaches of Sawada and Watakuchi are also nearby, offering spectacular views of beautiful sunsets, so please stop by when you visit.

(15) Miyakojima Takuma-kun

Takuma-kun is standing guard at a large intersection on Route 390 from the Taira area, just past the Ueno Joint Government Office Building.

It is easy to miss it because it stands quietly in the shade of a tree, so be careful when looking for it!

Behind Takuma-kun is a sugarcane field, making it a photogenic spot.

 

⑯ Atsushi Miyakojima-kun

Atsushi is standing guard at the German Village intersection overlooking the sea.

The name is written on the base of the foot.

 

⑰Miyakojima Sorinokunin

Since Dane-kun works standing guard at the arrival lobby of Miyako Airport, he is the first person you will see when you visit Miyakojima.

 

⑱Miyakojima Isao-kun

Isao is standing guard in front of Matsuda Orthopedics near Irabu Bridge.

He originally worked in front of the Oura Community Center, but was on leave for a time due to a serious injury and transferred to the front of Matsuda Orthopedics on May 20, 2015 due to a personnel change.

(19) Takaya-kun, Miyakojima

Takaya-kun is on duty across the Irabu Bridge from Miyakojima.

We are watching from the end of the bridge because many people drive too fast when driving on the big bridge. You can meet them as soon as you cross the Irabu Bridge.

 

⑳宮古島つよし君

Tsuyoshi is the only one of the Mamoru brothers who is on duty on Tarama Island.

You can find them at the exit intersection of Tarama Airport, where RAC operates two flights a day.

You can meet them on the way out of the airport to the village!
