The coral is abundant, but the variety of tropical fish inhabiting the reef is the best in all of Okinawa. This is a rare spot where visitors can observe colorful tropical fish playing in the coral reefs.
The shallow, calm sea is best for snorkeling at high tide, as the corals dry up at low tide! The depth of the water over the coral reef is about 1 m, so even beginners can swim easily and safely. When snorkeling, be careful not to step on the coral to prevent injury and protect the coral.

summary
Corals on Miyako Island wear small algae called zooxanthellae on their bodies to supply carbon dioxide and nutrients to the algae. When the water temperature exceeds 27 degrees Celsius, corals die due to bleaching. Coral decrease is caused by the lack of typhoons and global warming.
Another natural enemy is the crown-of-thorns starfish. Starfish live by eating coral, so the more starfish there are, the less coral there will be. Pollution also kills coral. Please enjoy snorkeling without throwing garbage or stepping on coral!
