Yaebise is said to be the largest tabletop coral in Japan, designated as a national natural treasure. The coral extends over an area of about 25 km, and the sheer scale of the coral is inevitably astonishing.

Because of the many colorful coral reefs clustered together, a wide variety of tropical fish can also be seen swimming around. In addition to the high biodiversity, the giant coral reefs act as a breakwater and prevent waves from rising, making it a popular snorkeling and diving spot.

It is also possible to go ashore at low tide on the high tide, so it might be a good idea to see the difference in ebb and flow.

Azuma Heinanazaki

Higashi Heiannazaki is the easternmost cape on Miyako Island, designated as a national historic site and natural monument. The parking lot and promenade are well maintained, allowing visitors to walk around safely. In early spring, you will be impressed by the spectacular view of lily-of-the-valley blooming all around the area.
