    Landscapes of the Okinawa Islands

If you're going all the way to Okinawa, you'll want to visit Miyako Island, Ishigaki Island, and the Kerama Islands, right?

However, traveling between areas is more difficult than you might expect. Be sure to check your transportation options before making plans.

Air travel is the primary means of getting from one area to another.

Travel between the Main Island, the Miyako Islands, and the Yaeyama Islands is generallyairplanewill be.

Naha Airport serves the main island, Miyako Airport and Shimojishima Airport serve the Miyako Islands, and Ishigaki Airport serves the Yaeyama Islands. Since the number of flights is limited, you should expect to have very little time to spend in the water on travel days.

We recommend limiting each trip to one area.

A woman enjoying snorkeling in the waters off a remote island in Okinawa

Snorkeling on Okinawa’s outlying islands offers different experiences depending on the area: the Miyako Islands, where you can tour the islands by rental car; the Yaeyama Islands, where you can take a boat to uninhabited islands and the “Manta Sea”; and the Kerama Islands and Minna Island, which are accessible as day trips from the main island.

First.Areas I'd like to visitPick one and think about whether you'd prefer to enjoy it on a tour or on your own.

If you're planning to go snorkeling on Miyako Island, be sure to check out the tours where you can see sea turtles and the Yaese tours!
