Shimoji Island Tourist Spots (2) Street Pond
Street Pond is a pond located on a small rise on the west coast of Shimoji Island, consisting of two adjacent circular ponds, the inside of which is made of Ryukyu limestone and the two ponds are connected at the bottom of the sea.
It is said that the two ponds were connected underground due to the erosion of ocean currents. The sight of the changing hues of the colors, depending on the difference in tidal levels, is impressive even just by looking at them. The site is also famous as a diving spot, and visitors can feel the color change underwater as well, creating a fantastic sight.

Shimoji Island Attractions (3) Obi Iwa
Obiwa-iwa is a huge rock that is said to have been washed up when Shimoji Island was submerged by the Meiwa Tsunami of 1771. At 12.5 m high and 59.9 m in circumference, it is a huge rock that gives one a sense of power, but also of the enormity of the tsunami that washed up such a large rock.

Access from Miyako Island to Ikema Island
The main ways to access Ikema Island from Miyako Island are basically by land, such as car, local buses, and bicycle.
(1) Automobile
Ikema Island can be accessed from Miyako Island by crossing the Ikema Ohashi Bridge. The Ikema Ohashi Bridge crosses from the northern tip of Miyako Island, so it can be seen along the ocean as you drive north on Miyako Island. It takes about 30 minutes by car from Miyako Airport.
(2) Route bus
There is no direct flight from Miyako Airport to Ikema Island. You can take the Miyako Kyoei Bus from the airport to Hirara City Center in about 10 minutes, transfer to the Yachiyo Bus, and reach Ikema Island in about 30 minutes.
(iii) Bicycle
Weather permitting, you can reach Ikema Island from Miyako Island by bicycle in 1.5 to 2 hours. There are a couple of bike rental stores in the downtown area of Miyakojima, so you can use them. Access from Miyako Island to Kushima Island
Access to Kurima Island is also by land, by car, local bus, or bicycle.
(1) Automobile
Kushima Island can be visited by crossing the Kushima Ohashi Bridge, which was built from Miyako Island. Take the Miyakojima Airport exit on the right, turn left on Route 390, go straight for 4 km, and then turn right to access the Kurema Ohashi Bridge.
(2) Route bus
There is no direct bus service to Kushima Island, so you need to change buses at Hirara in the city center. From Miyako Airport, take the Miyako Kyoei Bus on the Niisato-Miyakuni Line, change to the Yonaha-Kadekari Line at Hirara, and get off at the "Kurima" stop. It takes about one hour to get there, including the ride over.

Access from Miyako Island to Ogami Island
Ogamijima is not connected to Miyakojima by a bridge, so it is necessary to go there by boat. There is a regular ferry service from Miyakojima, so it is best to use that service. It takes only about 15 minutes by boat from Miyakojima to Ogamijima, and the one-way fare is reasonable at 350 yen for adults and 180 yen for children, so it is a good idea to visit the island casually.

Tourist Spots on Ogami Island (1) Oddly shaped stones (notches)
Oddly shaped rocks (notches) are found on the west coast of Ojinshima. They are dotted with mushroom-shaped rocks that are hollow at the base. The rocks fell into the sea about 200,000 years ago when the island was created by the uplift of a coral reef, and were then eroded by waves over several thousand years, resulting in this unusual shape.

Access from Miyako Airport to Tarama Airport is by Ryukyu Air Commuter's propeller-driven aircraft. The one-way flight takes about 20 minutes, making it easy to access. However, there are only two round trips per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Check the times to make sure you don't miss it. The fare is between 5,000 and 9,000 yen one way.
(2) Ferry
