Recommended Shops & Spots in Miyako Islands
Yamato Shokudo" where you can taste old-fashioned Miyako soba
This long-established diner has been in existence on Miyako Island for over 40 years and is loved by the locals.
The menu is varied like this, so you can choose according to your mood!
Yamato Shokudo's Miyako soba is a reproduction of old-fashioned soba.
In the old days, the ingredients for soba were hidden inside the noodles, making it appear at first glance that there were no ingredients.
There are various theories as to why, but the prevailing theory is that meat and other ingredients were hidden inside the noodles because it was not possible to be extravagant during the era of the per capita tax.
Recently, however, another theory has gained ground, as it has been suggested that soba was eaten only after the Taisho era (1912-1926) and that the common people could not have eaten it in the first place during the period of the capitation tax.
According to a recent popular theory, this way of eating soba came about in the Taisho era (1912-1926), when a certain diner served soba for 10 sen for a "large bowl" instead of the usual 5 sen for a bowl, and it is believed that the ingredients were hidden as a result of the novel way of serving the soba with toppings already added. The result is said to be that the ingredients were hidden!
There are other reasons why the word "soba" is written in hiragana instead of "buckwheat" (please look it up for details). It is interesting that there is so much history in just one type of soba.
After all this talk about soba noodles, Yamato Shokudo's secret popular menu item is "omelette rice!
We hope you will enjoy our omelette rice with a homey, nostalgic taste that you may have had in the past.
If you go with a group, you can order one soba of your choice and an omelette to share!

Stylish gelato shop "ao" opened this year
This is an affiliate of the popular smoothie shop "AOSORA Parlor" on Kurima Island, and is very popular among women because they use honey from Miyako Island, brown sugar from Tarama, and organic sugar to make their gelato!
The interior is also stylish and nice, using modern style but also Okinawan specific flower blocks and so on! I also tried to stick it inside the store.
The store sells not only gelato, but also honey produced on Miyako Island, making it a perfect souvenir!
The display is beautiful and stylish♪
Each gelato has a cute name...!
The staff members come up with names together during the product development stage.
Aladdin is a very nice name for a gelato made with jasmine!
Bee Kwasar is a Seekwasa gelato topped with honey from Miyako Island.
Wow, all this gelato is handmade by the staff! Amazing!
Moreover, the staff are all beautiful women.
How could gelato made by such a beautiful woman not be delicious?
The person sitting next to Kozee is ao's manager, Mr. Omari.
He is from Miyako Island and spoke a lot about his passion for Miyako!
After all, nice places attract nice people!
Whether at the end of an activity or after lunch, go to "ao" for sweets!

Miyako Island's first glamping facility "RuGu
RuGu is a trailer house-type glamping facility, which is rare in glamping.
In Miyakojima Island, where much of the nature has been lost due to the recent rush to build on the land, the idea is that the island can be restored to its natural state anytime, with only minimal development and by placing trailer houses, which can be easily moved around, instead of buildings!
It's a wonderful thought that can be enjoyed while protecting the nature of Miyako Island♪
Here's what the trailer house looks like♪
The light-colored walls look great against the surrounding greenery!
You can also go up to the rooftop to enjoy the sky and island scenery.
One tends to think that trailer houses are too hot because they resemble containers, or that their interiors are not very clean or rugged, but the interior of "RuGu" is also extremely fashionable!
Glamping in such a stylish interior is definitely a favorite of women.
Incidentally, there are 16 trailers in total, each with four beds and sleeping up to four people, all of the same grade.

And dinner was a glamping BBQ at RuGu!
BBQ is fun, but it doesn't really taste that great, it smells bad, and it wastes food..."
That was the image I had, but the vegetables and meat are delicious, turning those values upside down!
I have never tasted such delicious green peppers, and the Agu pork steak was so good that I could have eaten as many as I wanted!
They will also give you a BBQ guide to grill your food well, so even glamping beginners don't need to worry♪.
For those girls who can't do it even with a guide, the handsome brothers of the staff are always there to assist them!
(If you want, you can grill most of them. LOL)
And you can even see the beautiful sunset on the way to the BBQ! Your stomachs and hearts are full!
Toward the end of the BBQ, the bonfire started. Everyone chatted around the fire, drinks in hand...and when I looked up, the sky was full of stars!
RuGu" is a place where you can spend a wonderful time as if you were in heaven, and even those who are not staying at the hotel can enjoy a one-day BBQ, so please visit us!
